Tuesdays and Trimoortini at my work places

Last year on April 10th , I did take a flight from Bengaluru for the first time and landed in Mumbai. Its been an year. Even though I have not gone across the length and breadth of this Metro; Mumbai seems to be very familiar to me! I had not felt so comfortable in Bengaluru for the first 2 years of my initial work life.

Its just above a decade of work-life! and currently its my 4th job.

First I started on 8th October 1999 at Sri Rameshwara Industrial Training Institute at Arasikere; near Home Town Hassan. My designation was Junior Training Officer and Incharge Principal. I was there for about 1 year approximately.

The second job was at Smt. L V (Govt.) Polytechnic at Hassan which is a 6 minute walk able distance from my maternal home. I started there as a Lecturer in the department of Computer Engineering and after 1 year shifted to Electrical Engineering. I was there for nearly 2 years from July 2000 to April 2002.

The third and the break through was at East West Institute of Technology at the then Bangalore. It was my third job and the first as a Lecturer in an Engineering College. Wide variety of students from the Subcontinent and new responsibilities! I learnt a lot of things at this place.

I can say that what ever I am today the Credit goes to EWIT and the folk which was there during my journey at EWIT. To name few as to what I learnt at EWIT : - Technical Know-how, Managing, Organising, Leading, Controlling, Data Mining! and an M.Tech from the same Institute.

After my marriage I moved to Mumbai and now at Thakur College of Engineering and Technology my learning activities are continuing.

At all these work places two things have been in common.

For all these jobs; my day of joining has been Tuesday always!

Second thing ; at all these places I have three women who have influenced me, guided me and helped me to come out at the work place with flying colours.

At Arasikere; Siddamma - the typist and Clerk and PA to Secretary of the Institute... ,Rashmi- a JTO for Machinery (was also a Classmate of my sister) and our institute Secretary's wife. These three helped me to understand a lot about the small institute for which they had been the part quite before me.

Immediately after my engineering results I was with this ITI and I was just 22 and out in the world!

Rashmi and Myself use to travel together from Hassan to Arasikere up and downwards. Siddamma used to come from Haranahalli to Arasiker. Now and then from Hassan Secretary's wife used to come to the institute. But for couple of times we travelled together to Mysore for official reasons.

During these days I learnt to travel ! I learnt to talk to people! I learnt to mingle with people. Otherwise my world was quite small.

My life at Government Smt Lakshmamma Venkatappa Polytechnic has been really good. Here my father studied way back in 1968! My sister also studied here and was a student during the period I was at workforce.

The computer engineering HOD - Smt Radha and above all the Electrical department HOD - Smt Prasanna Udupa and another Sharmila in the same department were the trio here.

I learnt a new subject to teach Computer Science students just hours ahead of them!

Radha Madam helped me and boosted my courage and she said you need to experiment for new subject in the teaching field else you would be an odd woman out!

At East West Institute of Technology the trio were Smt. Veena , Dr. Ruby Salestina and Dr. Seema Agrawal. Rubs (Ruby) is my soul mate no doubt. Veena madam guided me to handle the things and issues at every crucial points. Seema madam on the other hand has taught me to look at the life in a different way.

Now here at Thakur College of Engineering and Technology , the "Trimoortini " are Smt. Payel Saha, Smt. Anjali Joshi and Smt. Sangeeta Mishra. I just can not explain by words as to how these have been my strength and led me to the courageous way I am leading my life here to face the odds at Mumbai.

Yesterday at Borivali Railway Station when I saw Payel on the other platform waving at me, all these memories just rolled out and made me to write this.

The Tuesdays and the Three Ladies Battalions is a special system at my work places I do feel. I just need to keep a watch on these two points next time I join a new workforce.
